In terms of weather, Irvine is relatively cold, having wet summers, and cold, wet winters. You can expect a white winter when you stay in town, so it is best to bundle up. However, considering the area, this part of Scotland still has milder temperatures. Compared to other regions, Irvine is quite pleasant, and this is due to the sea air.
Irvine has several transport links responsible for local routes. There is a railway station located at the west end of the town set on the mainline between Stranraer and Glasgow. A local bus network also provides frequent services to Ardrossan, Greenock, Kilmarnock, Ayr, Troon, and Glasgow.
